What Are You Reading Now? is a monthly book club that met at Haggard Library, focusing on talking about whatever book you were interested in talking about. While the library is closed, this has moved to a weekly virtual meet up via Zoom, on Mondays at 1 p.m. Register online here.

While print copies are not available from the library currently, you can use OverDrive (or the Libby app) to download eBooks and eAudiobooks from the library. You can see what’s been added recently in the Just Added list, and even filter search results by items “Available Now” to get only books ready to read.

May Book Clubs
I got away from my usual fiction genres and read a couple of interesting nonfiction books. First was The Library Book by Susan Orleans, about a huge fire in the Los Angeles Public Library in 1986, and the history of that library as well as a lot of discussion of libraries and librarians in general.
The next was Killers of the Flower Moon, by David Grann, about murders of many Osage tribespeople over a long time period for their mineral rights, with a lot of coverups by law enforcement and others.
And finally, back to fiction but not my usual mysteries and suspense. House of Earth, by Woody Guthrie, and discovered long after his death, was a fictional story of life in the 30’s in the Texas Panhandle.
All three were interesting in their own ways, and I would recommend any of them to the group.
What a great list of reads! When Susan Orleans came out with The Library Book she came to our library as a Pop-Up Author to talk about the book! It was amazing. Thanks for your comment!
