Plano Public Library offers a wide range of business classes and resources to help you achieve your professional goals.

This spring you can connect with a SCORE mentor for free small-business advice. Dallas SCORE mentors are highly successful and experienced business professionals and entrepreneurs. This is a free service for start-ups or existing businesses, and you can call SCORE to make an appointment for Thursday mornings at Schimelpfenig library. More information on SCORE and how to set up an appointment can be found on page 19 of the Engage Brochure.

  • Introduction to Writing a Business Plan – Wednesday Feb 12 at 6:30 pm at Davis Library

Learn the essentials of writing a business plan from Dallas SCORE representatives. This session will walk you through the eight sections of a business plan and what is needed to complete them. Connect with a SCORE mentor who can help you continue to hone and implement your business plan.

  • Lynda.com – Saturday Feb 22 at 10 am at Haggard Library

Learn how to search, save videos and set up a profile to get the most out of this free library resource. Lynda.com will teach you anything from using Excel and Photoshop to playing the ukulele.

  • Write Effective E-mail – Tuesday March 24 at 6:30 pm at Schimelpfenig Library

Despite the rise of texting and other bite-sized forms of writing, email is still by far the most prevalent form of writing in the professional world. Learn how to write clear and warm emails that will be read and acted upon by your readers. Presented by McClain Watson, Director of Business Communication Programs at University of Texas at Dallas.

  • Reference USA for Your Business & Career – Saturday April 18 at 10 am at Davis Library

Learn to use Reference USA to start a business, find marketing prospects, make a career change or perform a job search.
