January Genealogy Programs

Learn about your lineage at the Plano Public Library through the Genealogy Center.

Whether you have a New Year’s resolution or a curiosity to discover more about your family tree, there are a plethora of opportunities to dive into your ancestry at Plano Public Library. The Genealogy Center, at Haggard Library, offers workshops from the basics to DNA ancestry to keeping your documents safe.

Here are some upcoming genealogy events, free and open to the public:

  • Genealogy 101: Wednesday, January 8 at 9:30 am
    Learn about different databases to trace your heritage

  • DNA Interest Group: Tuesday, January 14 at 7 pm
    Discuss and explore the use of DNA in genealogy research

  • Genealogy 201: Thursday, January 23 at 9:30 am
    Find vital records using databases accessible with your library card

  • Legacy Research: Tuesday, January 28 at 1:30 pm
    Join the Legacy Users Group for information sharing, research tips, webinars and one-on-one help

With these programs, you can learn to navigate the databases that are accessible with your library card and begin your genealogy journey. Our expert staff are also available outside of these classes to assist you. Fill out the Book a Genealogy Librarian form to book an appointment or stop by the library during open hours.
