Get Creative with Our Bookmark Contest
It’s time to exercise your art skills during our annual Bookmark Contest, sponsored by Friends of the Plano Public Library. What design will you create?
The contest starts today and runs through Saturday, February 15, 2020. All entries must be received by 6 pm on February 15 to be considered. Winners are picked from five age categories: ages 5-7, ages 8-10, ages 11-13, ages 14-18 and adults. Each winner receives a gift card, has their winning bookmark printed and distributed in the libraries, and is featured on our website.
You can pick up an entry form at any Plano Public Library. The Spark Spaces in each building feature entry forms and art materials to get you started. You can also download an entry form at any time on our website.
Here are a few tips to keep in mind while you’re creating:
- Your bookmark should stay within the rectangle on the entry form. To make sure it prints well, try and keep your design and words away from the edges
- Your entry should not include copyrighted characters, like Pokémon or Dog Man. We love them, too, but we want to see your original artwork
- Your entry should not include collage or 3-D elements, since they will not reproduce well
- You can only submit one entry per person. Design as many as you want, but make sure only your best entry is submitted for judging

We will be celebrating all our entries, and announcing our winners, at this year’s Bookmark Contest Art Celebration in April. Join us on Thursday, April 23 from 6:30 to 8 pm at Harrington Library to view the winning designs, create art and more.
