July Technology Classes

Whether you’re exploring a summer hobby or thinking ahead to your next project, Plano Public Library is here for you. From basic skills like Microsoft Office to more specialized programs like Adobe Photoshop, we have a class for you. This summer, take time to explore our technology offerings and services. Programs at the library are free and do not require a library card. For ticketed programs, free tickets are available in person 30 minutes prior to the start of the program. Online programs require registration via Zoom. Virtual programs are recorded and posted on the library’s YouTube channel

Adobe Creative Cloud 

Photoshop Basics 

Tuesday, July 11 at 6:30pm at Haggard Library (Ages 13+) 

Learn how to navigate the workspace, toolbar and panels in Photoshop to create graphics 

Photoshop: Product Photography 

Thursday, July 27 at 3pm on Zoom (Ages 13+, registration required

Quality photos are a must for starting an online business selling products or services. Learn how to stage and edit product photos 


Canva: Basics and Branding 

Friday, July 7 at 3pm on Zoom (Ages 13+, registration required

Get an overview of the Canva workspace and build your own brand kit with fonts, logos, and color swatches 

Canva: Social Media & Content Planning 

Friday, July 17 at 3pm on Zoom (Ages 13+, registration required

Explore Canva templates and tools for social media, build a suite of marketing graphics and schedule your content for posting 

Canva: Videos 

Friday, July 21 at 3pm on Zoom (Ages 13+, registration required

Put together simple marketing videos using Canva templates, stock video content and audio 

Canva: Print Marketing 

Friday, July 28 at 3pm on Zoom (Ages 13+, registration required

Use Canva templates, photos and your branding kit to make flyers, posters, business cards and brochures 

Microsoft Office 

Excel: Simple Budgets

Tinkercad: Design Basics 

Sunday, July 23 at 2pm at Parr Library (Grades 3 and up, ticketed) 

Learn the basics of three dimensional design in the Tinker CAD software 

Movie Maker Camp 

July 24 to 28 from 3pm to 5pm at Haggard Library (Teens, ticketed) 

Join us for a 5 day camp to master movie magic using Lightworks and Audacity. Learn how to edit video, create sound effects and use a green screen. Attendance at all sessions is strongly encouraged 

Ready to apply your new technology skills? Computers are available on a first-come, first-served basis at all five library locations with your Plano library card. You can use our 3D printing services to print your objects (20 cents per gram with a $1 minimum) at the Davis, Harrington, and Parr libraries. For more specialized software and tools, unleash your creativity with our Digital Creation Spaces, available for reservation with a library card in good standing at Harrington, Haggard, and Parr Libraries.
