Ready, set, school! A new school year is about to start, and Plano Public Library has you covered.

Check out our extensive collection of books, media, Launchpads, bilingual backpacks and STEAM kits to boost skills and increase knowledge. Enjoy free access to dozens of educational databases, including:

  • Credo – Over 3 million reference entries from all the major academic subject areas serve as a great starting point for research. Access images, audio files, videos and full text articles on any topic you can think of, all with full citations.
  • Learning Express Library – Academic skills-improvement for 4th-grade skills-level through college, practice STAAR tests and college admissions and placement exams, interactive tutorials and more
  • Science in Context – Updated daily with over 600 pages on topics across the curriculum, covering biology, chemistry, earth and environmental science, physics, and more. Includes millions of full-text articles, 200+ science experiments, 300+ interactive simulations and top reference content.
  • TeachingBooks – A portal to thousands of multimedia resources that can enhance and enliven reading experiences of children’s and young adult books
  • Tutor.com – Online tutoring service with live, one-on-one tutoring available from 2-11 p.m. daily and 24/7 access to a SkillsCenter offering support in more than 250 subjects, including AP® courses

Need specialized technology for a school project? The Digital Creation Spaces (DCS) for ages 13+ at Haggard and Parr Libraries house cameras, drawing tablets, digital audio tools and coding software, as well as computers with Adobe Creative Cloud. Both libraries offer introductory classes on DCS equipment and software. All Plano Public Library card holders also have free access to PCs and scanners at all five locations.
