In the late 1800s and early 1900s, Collin County had several milliners making hats and selling them in stores in McKinney, Plano, Farmersville and other towns. Hats of all styles can be found in the pictures in the archives – wide brimmed, bonnets, top hats, cloche hats, bowler hats, etc.

Hats are not only worn as a fashion statement. Many occupations wear hats as part of their uniforms, including firefighters, police, nurses, and even the ice man!

We can’t forget the baseball hats that date as far back as 1904 or football helmets from the 1950s.

And what would Texas be without some amazing cowboy hats?!
