Technology Classes this June

Whether you’re looking to get started on 3D modeling or boost your photo editing skills, Plano Public Library has a class for you. Events at the library are free and do not require a library card. Virtual programs are recorded and posted on the library’s YouTube channel, so subscribe to be the first to know when new videos go live.

The latest Engage brochure of events is available for downloading from the Plano Public Library website or you can pick up a printed copy at any of our five locations. You can also browse our upcoming events on our online calendar. Below is a list of upcoming technology classes you might be interested in:

Tuesday, June 7 from 6:30-8pm
Photoshop: Social Media
Ages 13+ | Meets virtually, registration required
Use Photoshop to create custom graphics that can help boost your business’ online presence. Learn how to use basic tools and techniques for social media platform marketing.

Saturday, June 11 at 2pm
Blender Basics
Ages 13+ | Haggard Library, tickets available 30 minutes prior to the program, available in-person only
Learn the basics of 3D Modeling in Blender by creating your own magical creature.

Monday-Friday June 20-24 from 3-5pm
Movie Maker Camp
Grades 6-12 | Haggard Library, tickets available 30 minutes prior to the program, available in-person only
Join us for a 5-day camp to master movie magic using Lightworks and Audacity. Learn how to edit video, create sound effects and use a green screen. Attendance at all sessions is strongly encouraged.

Tuesday, June 21 from 6:30-7:30pm
3D Printing Intro
Grades 3+ | Harrington Library, tickets available 30 minutes prior to the program, available in-person only
Explore the world of 3D printing. See our 3D printer and learn how to submit your 3D designs to be printed.

Saturday, June 25 from 3-4pm
3D Printing Class
Grades 3+ | Davis Library, tickets available 30 minutes prior to the program, available in-person only
Learn the basics of 3D printing and get an introduction to 3D design. Students under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the class. Bring a USB flash drive to save your projects. Watch a recording of our virtual 3D Design class on YouTube to see how we build 3D objects in TinkerCAD.
