December Early Learning Programs

You’re never too little to learn! From babies to preschoolers, Plano Public Library offers a variety of early learning programs designed to help caregivers and children interact, learn and grow together. 

Join us in December as we host several early learning programs. For ticketed programs, please visit the desk 30 minutes prior to the program to guarantee your space. 

Ages 0-18 Months

Baby Picasso (Ticketed) 

Wednesday, December 8 at 10:30 a.m. | Parr Library 

Did you know doing artwork with your baby is good for their motor and cognitive development? Explore the benefits of doing art with your child! Wear clothing that is paint and mess-friendly. 


Ages 18-36 Months

Mini Monet (Ticketed) 

Tuesday, December 7 at 10 a.m. | Haggard Library 

Calling all toddler artists! Explore the benefits of doing art activities with your toddler to encourage their motor and cognitive development. Wear clothing that is paint and mess friendly. 


Ages 2-5 Years

Tape Town 

Friday, December 3 at 10 a.m. | Parr Library 

Explore a mini town made of tape with toy cars, blocks and more. 

Mother Goose Mania  

Thursday, December 9 at 10 a.m. | Schimelpfenig Library 

Explore and celebrate your favorite nursery rhymes with your child through music, play and exploration activities. 

Scarf Play 

Saturday, December 18 at 10:30 a.m. | Schimelpfenig Library 

Calling all tiny dancers! Get ready to sing, move and share stories as we play with colorful scarves. 

Dino Lab 

Monday, December 20 at 11 a.m. | Haggard Library 

Dinosaurs! Dinosaurs! Dinosaurs! Celebrate everything dinosaur with simple STEAM and early literacy activities. 

Parachute Party (Ticketed) 

Wednesday, December 29 at 10:30 a.m. | Parr Library 

Up, down, and round and round. Join us for rhymes and songs using giant parachutes. 


Ages 3-5 Years

Glow in the Dark Storytime 

Wednesday, December 22 at 10:30 a.m. | Haggard Library 

It’s “Lights Out” at the library! Stories, songs, dancing and illuminated art under the black lights. Wear something white or fluorescent so you glow. Please arrive on time as the room will be dark once the program begins. 

Art Start (Ticketed) 

Tuesday, December 28 at 10 a.m. | Schimelpfenig Library 

Stories to inspire your little artist followed by a different hands-on activity each session. Things may get messy! Smocks and materials provided. 


All Ages

Storytime Around the World: Spanish 

Thursday, December 16 at 10 a.m. | Harrington Library 

Introduce your child to a new language! These bilingual storytimes introduce basic vocabulary words through stories, songs and movement activities. No language skills needed. 

Noon Year’s Eve (Ticketed) 

Friday, December 31 at 11 a.m. | Haggard, Parr, and Schimelpfenig Libraries  

Celebrate the New Year early with hands-on activities and a countdown to 12:00 NOON!
