Reel Reading: Horror

Do you enjoy a good binge-fest over books, tv series, or films? Join us to talk about all things binge-worthy in our new Reel Reading club for Teens. Come join us on Zoom on October 25th at 7 p.m. for a discussion on horror.

Reel Reading is a teen-specific book, film and TV club meeting virtually on the fourth Monday each month at 7 p.m. via Zoom. This club is for ages 13-18 and each month will have a genre or theme to explore. Register for our next session here.

Teen street team member Ashley is our guest blogger for this month and talks about her favorite horror books and movies.

With Spooky Season right around the corner, it’s time for another horror-themed Reel Reading meeting! From hilarious low-budget ghost movies to nightmare-inducing psychological terrors, horror has always been one of my favorite genres due to its variability. For me, October brings back memories of binge-watching Coraline, Tim Burton movies, and A Series of Unfortunate Events while snuggling with my dog. Although these books and movies aren’t exactly nightmare fuel, they definitely hold a place in my heart as spooky-esque classics.

On the other hand, I recently watched The Conjuring this weekend after putting it off forever. Let’s just say I didn’t sleep a wink that night. The Conjuring covers the story of the haunted Perron family and their struggle to survive against a malicious presence. Filled with bone-chilling moments that instilled a sense of impending doom, The Conjuring definitely lived up to its infamous legacy!
