On August 19, 2020 Plano Public Library hosted a virtual workshop with tips on how to promote your business using social media through the use of engagement and activity.

Lynda.com

Provides online training courses that cover a variety of topics (including business, design, web development and multimedia skills) and software (Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite and open source applications). Requires a Plano Public Library card.

  • See our Polish Your Skills with Lynda blog posts, with recorded video tutorial by our staff, to understand how Lynda works. 
  • In Lynda.com, there is an entire section dedicated to Social Media Marketing – with more than 70 courses and 1,000 videos. See the latest releases, learning paths and any weekly series available.
  • You can choose your skill level (beginner, intermediate and advanced) and the Social Media Platform you are using to better tailor which videos you see in the list. Here are some courses we suggest: 

Social Media Marketing Tips – by Carlos Gil, 7/19/2019. This course includes topics such as expanding your network, humanizing your brand, hashtags, and more.


Social Media Marketing Foundations – by Brian Honigman, 1/13/2020. Topics include defining your audience, publishing best practices, selling on social media, and building and maintaining a community.


Become a Social Media Marketer – A Learning Path with a series of 11 videos from various experts. This 14 hour series covers topics such as marketing for small businesses, marketing on specific platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, as well as managing online communities.
