Baby Sign Language: Book & Again

Learn how to use signs for Book and Again with your family.

Research suggests that signing gives a child a way to communicate months before they can talk and that children can understand sign language long before they begin to use it.

You can learn more about this form of communication on our Communicating with Your Baby/Toddler page on the blog.

Signing Book and Again

Book and again are the perfect signs to use during storytime.

Babies love stories, and signing book will signal to your baby that they are about to hear a great story. If your baby particularly enjoys a certain story, sign again to tell your baby that you are going to read the book again.

Even though reading the same book over and over again may seem too repetitive for us as adults, repetition is one way that early learners learn more about their world. Repetition helps your baby develop their language skills, allowing them to hear different words and sounds. Again may quickly become your baby’s favorite sign!

Below, your librarians show you how to sign both book and again.
